Deliveries with OTO

Connect your OTO account once, then send approved orders to your carriers and let customers track them in chat.

On this page

OTO is a shipping platform that books SMSA, Aramex and the other carriers you activate in it. Connect it to Clarly and orders taken in chat go to OTO without retyping, and customers who ask where their parcel is get the latest status. Read catalogue and orders first if you have not set up ordering.

Before you start

You need an OTO account with at least one pickup location (the warehouse or shop OTO collects from). Add pickup locations in the OTO dashboard; Clarly lists the ones it finds there.

OTO's Free plan creates orders sent from other apps but does not book a carrier for them. On that plan, book the carrier for each order in the OTO dashboard, or upgrade your OTO plan.

Connect OTO

  1. In OTO, open Settings, then API Integrations, and choose Connect. Copy the refresh token.
  2. In Clarly, open Settings, then Delivery settings, and choose Connect next to OTO.
  3. Paste the refresh token, type production as the environment, and save.

Clarly checks the token with OTO before it saves the connection. It also registers itself with OTO so that OTO sends every status change straight to Clarly. If OTO does not accept that, you see a warning; tracking still works and checks OTO regularly instead. Choose Replace signing secret under the connection to try again.

Choose what Clarly sends

Under the connection, choose Set up sending and fill in:

  • Pickup location. Pick the one OTO should collect from.
  • Carrier. Pick a carrier from the list, with OTO's price for your default parcel, or leave Let OTO choose so your carrier rules in OTO decide.
  • Parcel size and weight. Used for every order unless you change it.
  • Send automatically when an order is approved. Off by default. When it is on, each order you approve goes to OTO on its own, and you are told if one could not be sent.

Send an order

Open the order and choose Send to OTO. Clarly creates the order in OTO with the customer's name, phone, city and address, and the cash on delivery amount when the customer pays on delivery. The order needs a city: if the customer gave none, edit the address on the order first.

If OTO accepts the order but flags something, such as the Free plan not booking a carrier, Clarly shows OTO's note so you know what to do next.

Tracking

Each shipment appears under Deliveries and on the order. When a customer asks where their parcel is, the assistant answers with the latest status and the carrier's name. If you turned on delivery messages, customers also get a message when the parcel is on its way and when it is delivered.
