Connect WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger
What you need before you connect a number, how the Meta signup works, and what to do when it does not finish.
On this page
Customers reach your assistant through channels. You connect them under Settings, Channels.
Before you start
- A phone number you can receive a verification code on. Meta sends the code to that phone during signup, so keep it nearby.
- A Meta business account. Meta has to verify your business before you connect. We go through that step with you.
- Admin or owner access to the Clarly workspace.
Connect a WhatsApp number
- Open Channels and choose Connect a WhatsApp number.
- Follow Meta's signup in the window that opens. Choose the business and the number.
- Enter the code Meta sends to the phone.
- Back in Clarly, the number shows as Active.
If you already use the WhatsApp Business app on that phone, choose Connect a WhatsApp Business app number instead. The number keeps working in the app, and messages you send from the app show up in Clarly as sent by your team.
A number can belong to one workspace at a time. If Clarly says it is connected elsewhere, disconnect it from the other workspace first.
Connect Instagram and Messenger
On the same page, connect a Facebook page or an Instagram account with Meta's sign-in. Direct messages from both arrive in the same inbox as WhatsApp.
Website chat
If you would rather start on your own site, the website widget gives you a chat window you can place on any page.
When something goes wrong
- Signup cancelled or expired. Run it again. Nothing is saved until Meta confirms.
- Reconnect required. Meta no longer accepts the connection. Open Channels and connect the number again.
- The Meta sign-in does not load. Check that nothing on your network blocks
connect.facebook.net, then reload.
Once a channel is active, add your knowledge so the first message gets a good answer.
